Detroit Firm adds Certified Electronic Medical Record

The only variances a Healthcare Provider need consider are simplicity, price, performance, and patient data security.

Minority owned Medical Claims Clearinghouse and Software Development Company, Electronic Services Technologies (EST) has added to its portfolio of services, a “complete” Certified Electronic Medical Record Software Application, dubbed the ‘ALL-IN-ONE’ Office Practice Solution.

The Software Application was certified by Drummond Group Inc. as a ‘Complete Ambulatory EHR’ the EHR supports reporting on 9 required Clinical Quality Measures plus two additional Clinical Quality measures that facilitate Diabetes management.

The Application is designed for doctors of small Private Practices that don’t have the resources to support a trained IT staff. The Application is also said to support Dentist, Nurse Practitioners, and Physician Assistants.

The Software roll out coincides with the start of the 2nd year in which only 90 days of consecutive electronic medical record usage by the Provider is needed in order to receive an incentive payment from the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid (CMS). Beginning in 2013 a Provider must demonstrate a complete year of Meaningful Use before qualifying for an incentive payment.

Company president and lead software developer Joe Williams, stated “For the small office environment, the Electronic Medical Record needs to be cost effective, extremely easy to use, and automatically produce the ‘meaningful Use’ percentage numbers that Healthcare Providers are required to report to CMS. Williams went on to further state that “although the integration of Automatic Insurance Billing capabilities into the Electronic Medical Record is not a requirement until Stage II certification, it just made sense that as a Claims Clearinghouse, we should include that function in our Electronic Medical Record now. Subsequently, it was decided to also include our Electronic Income Ledger, our Electronic Expense Ledger, and our Automatic Check-writer. This effectively gives us a Certified combination product of EHR/ Practice Management.

EST has addressed patient data privacy and security concerns, by isolating patient records from Internet Hackers. EST’s Electronic Medical Record runs as a Windows Desktop Application. As such, all Patient Data is safely stored on the Providers In-house Computer. Additionally, because the EMR is running as a simple Desktop Application, NO Trained IT staff is required.

Williams also made comment that the requirement; Providers must obtain Electronic Medical Record software that is ‘Government Certified’ in order to receive incentive payments was a game changer. Now all Electronic Medical Records, whether developed by one of the giant IT behemoths, or a small Software Development Company, will be measured by the same yardstick. The only variances a Provider need consider are simplicity, price, performance, and patient data security.

When asked the question ‘How would EST distinguish itself from the 500+ other complete Electronic Medical Record products? Williams’ response was "I refuse to do Smoke-and-Mirrors marketing. Many of my competitors will give fancy names to features that are mandated to be a part of the Medical Record, and then promote the fancy names as if they are offering something special or unique…. But to answer your question, we realize our Application (although scalable) is not for everyone. So we will simply share the attributes of our Application, and let the potential client decide. We think our Application will speak for itself."

As a result of the addition of The Certified Electronic Medical Record Application, EST estimates that it will require 100 new employees and more than 200 National Consultant-Resellers to market its Software Lease Agreements.
